Apostille and Document Legalization Services by
Hague Apostille Services

Hague Apostille Services provides professional authentication and legalization for documents issued in Canada, ensuring their acceptance in over 120 countries under the Hague Apostille Convention.

Canada has been a member of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) since 1968, and the Hague Apostille Convention officially took effect on January 11, 2024. This means that Canadian documents can now be authenticated through a streamlined apostille process instead of traditional consular legalization.

An apostille serves as an official certification that verifies the authenticity of signatures, seals, and stamps on public documents. Common documents requiring apostilles include birth and marriage certificates, criminal records (RCMP), business documents, and notarized papers.

Once a Canadian document is certified with an apostille, it is automatically recognized in all Hague Convention member countries, eliminating the need for additional embassy or consular verification. This significantly reduces processing time and costs for international document authentication.

However, if a document is intended for use in a country outside the Hague Apostille Convention, it must go through consular legalization for validity.
